Player Visits, Signings

There was at least one visit of interest to Vikings fans Wednesday, as wide receiver Donte Stallworth continued his search for a home in 2007 while another top receiver could be close to signing with a different team.

After signing wide receiver Bobby Wade around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, the Vikings went Wednesday without a visit or a signing.

But, while the Vikings were idle, there were other signings and visits of interest around the league, including some of the more well-known wide receivers on the free-agent market.

  • Wide receiver Donte Stallworth (Philadelphia Eagles) was visiting the receiver-poor Tennessee Titans on Wednesday, had already visited with the New England Patriots and could visit the Miami Dolphins later this week. Interest in him is clearly heating up, although the Vikings aren't known to have shown an interest in him.

  • Wide receiver Joe Horn, released by the New Orleans Saints, reportedly signed with the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday evening, but the Falcons were denying that a contract had been signed.

  • The New Orleans Saints signed tight end Eric Johnson. The Vikings didn't show an interest in Johnson, probably because he didn't fit their age/injury history criteria. Still, his 82 receptions in 2004 is hard to ignore.

  • The Baltimore Ravens released guard Edwin Mulitalo. Considering the Vikings' struggles at right guard last year, he would be a noteworthy consideration.

  • Former Vikings tackle Todd Steussie signed with the St. Louis Rams.

  • After releasing fullback William Henderson, who made a free-agent visit to the Vikings last year before they signed Tony Richardson, the Green Bay Packers were visiting with Justin Griffith.

  • This is beginning to become a "Where's Curtis" entry. He hasn't registered visits with the New York Giants or the Kansas City Chiefs. In fact, the wide receiver hasn't made an official to any teams since visiting with the Vikings on Friday night and Saturday, then going to Detroit for Saturday and Sunday.
