After learning that the Vikings scheduled a visit with University of Minnesota wide receiver Logan Payne, Scout.com has now learned that they have a visit scheduled with a wide receiver expected to be drafted in the first round.
The Vikings are one of five teams that have scheduled a visit with the Tennessee wide receiver Robert Meachem.
Several teams presently have the junior ranked as the No. 2 receiver in this draft after Calvin Johnson. There is movement on the receiver board for April's draft. Over the past two
weeks, we've twice reported that it is quite possible Ohio State junior Ted
Ginn Jr. is unlikely to work out for scouts before the draft due to his foot
injury. As a result, his draft grade is slipping.
After a fine performance at the combine, Meachem bettered many of his marks
during Wednesday's pro day at Tennessee. He ran his 40s in the mid-4.4 second
range and had a vertical jump of 37.5 inches.
Meachem is scheduled to take official visits to see the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams, San Diego Chargers, and Minnesota Vikings in
the next two weeks. He will also sit down with the brain trust of the Miami Dolphins next week.
The present feeling is Meachem will be off the board by the draft's 15th pick.
Here is Scout.com's predraft analysis on Meachem:
Meeting expectations last season, Meachem offers a lot of potential, yet still needs work to complete his game. Has the skills to develop into a No. 1 wideout.
Biography: All-Conference selection last season after producing a career-best 71/1,298/11. Started two games as a sophomore and totaled 29/383/2.
Positives: Physically gifted prospect with terrific size/speed numbers. Plays with good balance and body control, and makes the difficult reception in contorted positions. Displays a burst of speed, tracks the deep throw and effortlessly makes the reception in stride. Stays low exiting breaks, positions himself to make the reception and extends to catch the pass.
Negatives: Inconsistent route-runner who slows into breaks. Not quick releasing off the line. Struggles in battles when he should not.

Shaw to Make the Rounds
Penn State LB Tim Shaw is a busy man after his outstanding pro-day workout from
last week. scout.com has confirmed Shaw will be visiting the Philadelphia Eagles
and the Jets in the coming days.
Philadelphia, who lost out to the Tennessee Titans for the services of LB Ryan Fowler, is thought to be looking for a young linebacker who will eventually take
over for MLB Jeremiah Trotter.

Bowens Finding a Market For His Services
Presently four teams are in the running to sign free agent DE David Bowens.
The Miami Dolphins hope to retain Bowens and are presently offering a one-year
deal worth $1.5-million. The New England Patriots, New York Jets, and Carolina Panthers are also in the bidding. The feeling is Bowens would see significant
playing time with the Jets as compared to the other three franchises. Yet
sources have told us the Panthers are presently offering a better long-term
contract. Expect Bowens to be signed by the end of the week, after the owners
meetings have finished.

Jarrett Attracting Interest
If the three teams that are showing interest is any indication, USC WR Dwayne Jarrett could be off the board between picks 15-25 in the first round of next
Scout.com first reported earlier this week that the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Tennessee Titans all have Jarrett coming in for a visit sometime
Jarrett will have his pro day this Wednesday and his draft stock will likely be
affected by how he runs. League sources believe Jarrett must run the 40 in
the mid-4.5s to solidify a pick in the upper half of the first round.
Dallas, Scout.com has confirmed, will also have a pre-draft visit coming up with
Akron G Andy Alleman who is expected to be a first day selection.

Timmons Interest Heating Up
Florida St. LB Lawrence Timmons is seen as one of the top players at his
position for next month's draft, and while he didn't run particularly well at the
NFL Combine or at his pro day, he's still attracting a lot of interest around
Timmons had private workouts with the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots
recently and has visits set up with the San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals,
and San Diego Chargers.
The Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, and Pittsburgh Steelers who have shown
interest in him also could set up visits with him prior to April's draft.
