Four Vikings Start NFL Europa Season

The Vikings had four players assigned to NFL Europa rosters this spring, and they kicked off their seasons Saturday with varying results.

Four Minnesota Vikings started their NFL Europa seasons Saturday.

Cornerback Jerron Wishom, signed this offseason and assigned to the Cologne Centurions, had an interception return for 34 yards to set up a touchdown, along with three tackles and a special teams tackle. Cologne beat Hamburg, 24-18.

Wide receiver Justin Surrency, also a Vikings offseason acquisition, had three catches for 20 yards and a touchdown in the Amsterdam Admirals' 30-14 loss to Frankfurt. Surrency's touchdown was a 7-yarder on the Admirals' opening drive.

Offensive tackle Jimmy Martin, who spent time on the Vikings' practice squad last year, started for the Rhein Fire at left tackle. The Fire lost to Berlin, 15-3.

Defensive tackle Alex Guerrero, another 2006 practice-squad player, started at left defensive tackle for the Fire.

Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt were winners in this weekend's NFL Europa action.
