Vikings seventh-round draft pick Chandler Williams expects he'll need to carve out a role returning kicks or punts to improve his chances of making the team, but on draft weekend he was relieved to be a picked instead of going the free-agent route. He said he was receiving numerous calls about signing as an undrafted rookie before the Vikings selected him late in the second day.
Despite being involved in a brawl during a game with the University of Miami last year, Williams' draft dream came to fruition.
"At that time it was real intense and there was a lot of jawing going on throughout the whole thing," Williams said. "When it happened, you really don't think about the consequences of the situation after the fact. I learned from the whole experience of the Miami fight, and I guess it was a blessing in disguise because I made it (as a draft pick)."
Hear what else Williams had to say about becoming a Viking, where he expected he'd fall during draft weekend, what he knows about the Vikings and deciphering the draft process.
