>Hutchinson modern-day Hall of Famer?
Here is an interesting comparison in this USA Today story about the 2007 induction class into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which will welcome six new members this year.  Vikings guard Steve Hutchinson is listed as the modern equivalent to Gene Hickerson, who is being inducted.

>Williams backs off agent’s stance
Veteran defensive tackle Pat Williams softened the stance taken by his agent, Angelo Wright, in this Sean Jensen report in the Pioneer Press.  It is clear that he wants to stay with the Vikings and that coach Brad Childress wants to keep him.  He is hopeful an extension can still be worked out.

>Doss hopes to continue the championship trend
Vikings safety Mike Doss has won championships at every level – high school, college and professional.  As this Mankato Free Press report says, he’d like to continue that trend in Minnesota.

>Stewart confident in future of young receivers
The Vikings have a seasoned veteran in wide receivers coach George Stewart, who thinks his group of young receivers will do just fine when the dust settles this season, according to this StarTribune report.

>Local kid Surrency getting his shot
First-year receiver Justin Surrency, who attended Concordia Academy High School in St. Paul and then the University of Northern Iowa, is among the crop of young receivers battling for a roster spot during Vikings training camp.  “It's a special situation because not only do I get to play professional football but I get to play in my home town,” Surrency said in this Vikings.com report.  “I grew up watching the Vikings and I grew up going to the Vikings/Chiefs scrimmages in Mankato.  Now I actually get to play in the scrimmage and that's a special feeling.”

>Stewart on the passing of Bill Walsh
Vikings receivers coach George Stewart, who coached wide receivers with San Francisco 49ers from 1996-2002 is among many who remember former coaching great Bill Walsh fondly.  “The thing with coach Walsh that I will take through the rest of my coaching career was his ability to understand talent, the ability to go out and find pieces exactly that he wanted,” Stewart said recently.

>More low expectations for Vikings
A quote from this OnMilwaukee.com report previewing the NFC:  “Tavaris Jackson?  Brooks Bollinger?  Drew Henson?  God, could they have a more scuffling crew of QB's in ya-hay-der Minne-SOTA?  Let’s just say the Vikes at least have the right expectations this year:  None.”
