First-year receiver Justin Surrency, who attended Concordia Academy High School in St. Paul and then the University of Northern Iowa, is among the crop of young receivers battling for a roster spot during Vikings training camp. “It's a special situation because not only do I get to play professional football but I get to play in my home town,” Surrency said in this Vikings.com report. “I grew up watching the Vikings and I grew up going to the Vikings/Chiefs scrimmages in Mankato. Now I actually get to play in the scrimmage and that's a special feeling.”
