Vikings Complete Trade for Holcomb

The Vikings completed a trade for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kelly Holcomb on Monday afternoon.

The oft-rumored interested in quarterbackKelly Holcomb came to fruition Monday afternoon, as the Vikings acquired the 12th-year pro, as first reported by's Jay Glazer.

In return, the Vikings gave up a sixth-round draft choice in 2009. Last week, a source close to the Eagles said the Vikings were willing to send a seventh-round pick and the Eagles were looking for a fifth-rounder.

Holcomb did not play in the Eagles' loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday night, and neither did Eagles backup A.J. Feeley. Donovan McNabb started the game and rookie Kevin Kolb finished it.

The trade puts Brooks Bollinger's future with the Vikings in doubt, although he was at Monday afternoon's practice and spoke to media after their morning walkthrough.

"It's out of my control," Bollinger said about a potential trade before it was completed. "I don't worry about it. All I can do today is show up and get myself better and get my offense better on Thursday night."

On Saturday, Bollinger finished the Vikings' loss to the Seattle Seahawks, completing 6 of 11 passes for 52 yards, but he had two interceptions and a 27.7 passer rating. This preseason, he has completed 12 of 21 passes for 102 yards, and he has been the only Vikings quarterback to throw any interceptions.

Holcomb originally signed as a rookie free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1995 and has since played for Indianapolis (1996-2000), Cleveland (2001-2004) and Buffalo (2005-2006). The Eagles in March acquired Holcomb from the Bills in a three-player trade that included Takeo Spikes, Darwin Walker and conditional 2008 draft pick.

In his only playoff experience (a 2003 wild card game), Holcomb threw for 429 yards, the fourth-highest playoff total in NFL history, three touchdowns and a107.6 passer rating. His 2005 completion percentage of 67.4 is a Bills franchise record.

For his career, Holcomb has started 21 of 34 games played, completed 523 of 810 passes (64.7 percent) for 5,401 yards, 37 touchdowns and 37 interceptions for a 79.9 rating.
