Williams to sign three-year extension
Veteran nose tackle Pat Williams has agreed to a three-year contract extension that will have him finishing his career as a Minnesota Viking.
Williams will reportedly sign a three-year extension on Friday worth about $22 million.
Kudos all around for getting this deal done – to the Vikings and Rob Brzezinski, and to Williams and his agent, Angelo Wright.
Williams wanted to finish his career with the Vikings and head coach Brad Childress wanted Williams here, so at some point one would hope a deal could be made, but the market for defensive tackles had gone through the roof during the offseason, so it didn’t look like it was going to happen.
Jackson emerging as team leader
When veterans like Artis Hicks say: “He’s running that thing like a 10-year vet. I’m proud of him.”
Or when wide receiver Troy Williamson says: “He’s the leader of the team. We’re following him.”
Here are some new jersey numbers for players: RB Arkee Whitlock (#32), WR Robert Ferguson (#89), WR Joel Filani (#17), TE Garrett Mills (#45), DT Conrad Bolston (#60), DT Fred Evans (#90), LB Brandon Archer (#58), S Tyler Everett (#22).
Katnik works out with Broncos
Center Norm Katnik, who was on the Vikings practice squad much of last season and was essentially their second-string center throughout training camp and the preseason before being released last weekend, had a tryout with the Broncos recently along with three other offensive linemen.
