Running back Adrian Peterson is expected to play on Sunday, but he is currently trying to get used to a brace on his injured right knee.
Rookie running back Adrian Peterson
has done limited work in practice both days this week but is expected to return against Detroit on Sunday.
He has missed the past two games while recovering from the slightly torn lateral collateral ligament he suffered in his right knee on Nov. 11 at Green Bay.
"Right now I feel like I will be able to go out and play," he said. "I am just going to continue to take it one day at a time and see how it feels during practice and after practice. I will have to be able to make that decision this weekend."
Peterson, who leads the NFL with 1,081 yards rushing, is expected to split carries with Chester Taylor
. Peterson also will wear a brace on his knee for the remainder of the season.
Coach Brad Childress has noticed that Peterson has spent plenty of down time in practice fiddling with the brace and trying to get used to having it on his knee.
"It really took me a good week just to really get used to it," Peterson said. "It was kind of stiff at first but I really have worked into it. The brace is starting to mold over my leg and my knee so I am feeling more comfortable with it."
