Record-Seekers vs. Bears
GAME NOTES vs. BEARS
The tandem of Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor set a team record for the most rushing yards gained in a season with 2,025. Peterson has 1,278 and Taylor has 747, breaking the old mark of 1,991 set by Robert Smith (1,521) and Daunte Culpepper (470) in 2000.
The Vikings tied a team record for the most plays of 50 yards or more in a season with a 71-yard pass play from Tarvaris Jackson to Robert Ferguson. That gave the team 19 plays of 50 yards or more (six kickoffs, six passes, five rushes and two interceptions), tying the mark from the 1998 season (nine passes, four runs, two fumble returns, two interception returns, one kickoff return and one punt return).
Jackson's 71-yard completion to Ferguson was Jackson's career long pass play and was the second-longest play for the Vikings in a Monday night contest. The longest was a 78-yard touchdown pass from Rich Gannon to Cris Carter against Philadelphia in 1990.
Peterson's 78 yards rushing move him into third place in team history for a season, behind Robert Smith's 1,521 from 2000 and Michael Bennett's 1,296 from 2002. Peterson passed Smith' s 1,266 from 1997 and Taylor's 1,216 from 2006.
Peterson's two touchdowns rushing give him a season total of 12, which ranks fourth in team history, trailing the 13 scored by Terry Allen (1992) and Chuck Foreman (1975 and 1976).
Peterson set a team record for most rushing yards in a Vikings first season, besting Taylor's 1,216 from last season.
The Vikings' win over the Bears was their 50th, the second most wins against a Vikings opponent (they have 61 wins against the Lions).
The Vikings' home record on Monday Night Football is 14-7. Their overall record on Monday Night Football is 24-23-0.
The Vikings' win over the Bears was their sixth on Monday Night Football. The Vikings' 10 games against the Bears on Monday Night Football is the most of any opponent.
