The Insiders has been informed tonight of a possible breakthrough regarding the negotiations between the team and holdout offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie.
A source close to McKinnie tells The Insiders that the Vikings have restructured the financial package they are offering, which includes a multi-tiered bonus scale, with is regarded as achievable for the player. Both sides in this negotiation process continue to work on the critical signing bonus issue, an issue that has held the negotiations at an impasse since late August.
While specific details are not being divulged, the source indicates that the Vikings and representatives for McKinnie are deep into negotiations, progressing well beyond any point during the at times testy process.
The Vikings are believed to want to have McKinnie signed by early next week and ready to play at home against the New York Giants on November 10th, if he is in playing condition.
