Another End Coming In?

A league source told Viking Update that he expects another defensive end to visit the Vikings after Justin Smith signed with the San Francisco 49ers. Plus, get updates on other visits scheduled for the Vikings and former Vikings news.

The Vikings are going to be bringing in Tennessee Titans defensive end Antwan Odom for a visit, according to what a league source told Viking Update on Saturday. According to the source, Odom was still waiting to receive more detailed information on the contract Justin Smith signed with the San Francisco 49ers.

Smith was a target of the Vikings, and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier talked with Smith while he was at an airport on his way to San Francisco, but negotiations between the 49ers and Smith were pretty far along at that point, Frazier indicated. Frazier spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator in Cincinnati when Smith was playing there.

While Smith is a high-motor base defensive end, Odom is considered to have a bit more pass-rush potential. While Smith had two sacks last year, Odom, at 6-foot-5, 274 pounds, had eight sacks.

Odom reportedly has visits scheduled with the Bengals and Cardinals, but the source indicated that the Viking Update should "look out for Antwan Odom."
