CB Nate Jones Still an Option

The Vikings are still in the running for reserve cornerback Nate Jones, but so are other teams. See who else has been in pursuit of him.

The Vikings are among a few teams still in the hunt for reserve cornerback Nate Jones, an unrestricted free agent from the Dallas Cowboys.

According to a league source, Jones has received interest from the Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills of late. He visited the Vikings and the Dolphins this week, and Arizona earlier had expressed an interest in him.

Jones has been used mainly in nickel and dime situations in his previous four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and would likely battle for a roster position and playing time with Charles Gordon if the Vikings signed Jones. In his four seasons with the Cowboys, he has 78 tackles and two sacks.

He also returned six kicks for 122 yards for the Cowboys last season, but Maurice Hicks and Aundrae Allison are expected to be the front-runners for that job in 2008 with the Vikings.

Jones played for Rutgers when Vikings special teams coordinator Paul Ferraro was the defensive coordinator there from 2001-2004 before he joined the Carolina Panthers.
