#66, Leger Douzable, DT
(6045, 302, 5.14-5.34) Central Florida

Notes:  Born 5/31/86, in Tampa, Fla.  Parents are Anthony and Felichia Henry.  Two-year letterman at Alonso High School in Tampa, where he posted 50 tackles, 10 sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, two blocked field goals and two forced fumbles as a senior.  He also lettered in basketball once.

College:  Saw playing time in all 11 games as a true freshman (2004) at defensive tackle, finishing the season with four tackles.  Played in 12 games (one start) as a sophomore (2005); recorded 17 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, 0.5 sacks and three quarterback hurries.  Started 9 of 12 games in 2006, splitting time between defensive tackle and defensive end; led the team with seven sacks and 10.5 TFL; totaled 32 tackles, one pass deflection and one QBH.  Had a very productive senior season, posting 49 tackles, 14 TFL, 7.5 sacks and 11 QBH.  Earned All-Conference USA First-Team honors by the media and coaches.  HeLeger Douzable played for for NFL coach Buddy Ryan in the second-annual Texas vs. the Nation Collegiate All-Star Bowl following his senior year.  Majored in business at UCF.

Pro:  Signed by the Vikings as an undrafted rookie free agent following the 2008 NFL Draft.

Positives:  Has flashed ability and production.  Has the size and strength potential, with enough quickness and movement skills to be an effective player inside.  Can take on blockers effectively with good technique.

Negatives:  Needs a lot of technique work and refinement.  Lacks the upfield quickness you'd like in an end, and needs to get stronger to be successful inside at tackle.  Instincts and block-shedding technique are questionable at this point.

Summary:  A practice-squad candidate if he can show enough flash during training camp.

What they said:

"It will certainly be an uphill battle for Douzable, but he has always been the type of person who has set goals and has reached them." - Brendan Sannone,

"A bit of a 'tweener, lacking the quickness to make an impact as a pass rusher outside and the strength to make plays in the interior." -

"Douzable has flashed ability the past few seasons, yet he lacks consistency and does not do the little things well.  He must rely on more than his natural abilities to have any chance at the next level." - TFY Draft Preview
