Packers File Tampering Charges Against Vikes

According to Jay Glazer of, the league is looking into allegations that the Vikings tampered with Brett Favre.

Despite his desire to be released and the Green Bay Packers' refusal to do so, Brett Favre is still technically a member of the Packers. Therefore, it is considered tampering if a representative of any other team talks to Favre about playing for their team.

According to Jay Glazer of, the Packers have filed tampering charges against the Minnesota Vikings for doing just that. Minnesota offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell if Favre's former quarterbacks coach at Green Bay, and that is believed to be where the conversation(s) in question originated, according to published reports.

"The league has talked to both teams and, according to a source, is currently in information-gathering mode and talking with members of both teams," Glazer wrote in his story for

According to Glazer's league sources, the Vikings "vehemently denied any wrongdoing and are awaiting the league's next step in the process."

When contacted earlier on Wednesday by Viking Update about the alleged incident, a Vikings spokesman had "no response."

If the Vikings are found guilty of tampering, they could face fines and/or the loss of draft picks.
