RECORD-SEEKERS vs. COLTS
Adrian Peterson set a team record for most yards rushing in the first quarter with 72, surpassing Chester Taylor's first-quarter total of 66 against Arizona in 2006. Peterson's 72 yards rank 10th overall in any quarter. He also holds that record with 146 yards in the fourth quarter against San Diego last year.
Peterson set a team record for the most 100-yard rushing games in the first two seasons with his eighth.
Peterson's 29 rushing attempts against the Colts set a record in the series. He also tied Robert Smith for the series record with 160 yards rushing.
Peterson set a team record for most 100-yard rushing games to start a season with his second straight 100-yard performance.
Peterson's 160 yards rushing moved him into sole possession of fifth place on the team charts for 100-yard rushing games. He still has a long ways to go for that record, as Robert Smith had 29 games with at least 100 yards rushing, but Peterson could move into a third-place tie with Michael Bennett and Bill Brown with one more performance of 100 yards.
Peterson's 1,604 yards rushing as a Viking moved him past Chuck Foreman's 1,578 yards rushing and into third place among Vikings in their first two seasons with the team. Chester Taylor holds the mark with 2,060 yards from 2006-07, followed by Michael Bennett with 1,978 yards from 2001-02.
Peterson's 118 yards in the first half ranks fifth overall for any half of Vikings football and second overall in the first half. Peterson holds the record with 253 yards against San Diego last year.
Peterson moved into second place for the most rushing yards gained through the first two games of a season. Robert Smith, Chester Taylor and Peterson are the only players in team history to gain more than 200 yards after the first two games.
