Record-seekers vs. Saints

The Vikings set a number of team and personal bests in a game that featured the bizarre play.

  • Antoine Winfield set a team record as the first Viking to return a blocked field goal for a touchdown in the regular season. Bobby Bryant had one against the Los Angeles Rams on Dec. 26, 1976 in the playoffs. Winfield also set a team record for longest blocked field goal return.

  • Antoine Winfield's touchdown return was his fourth as a Vikings player, which moves him into second place for most in a Vikings career. Ed Sharockman holds the team record with six returns for touchdowns. Winfield is tied with Kevin Williams, Orlando Thomas, Dewayne Washington, Anthony Parker, Joey Brown, Bobby Bryant and Paul Krause.

  • Kevin Williams blocked his first career kick (field goal). It was the first time since 2002 that the Vikings had two blocked field goals in the same season. Cedric Griffin had one versus Green Bay in Week One.

  • Chester Taylor threw the first touchdown pass of his career on his 4-yard toss to Visanthe Shiancoe. He became the seventh running back in team history to throw a touchdown pass in a game. Alfred Anderson is the only Vikings running back to have two touchdown passes.

  • Safety Tyrell Johnson had his first career NFL interception.

  • Bernard Berrian had his first 100-yard game receiving with the Vikings with his 110-yard effort.

  • This marked only the third time in team history that two kicks of 50 or more yards were made in a Vikings game. Ryan Longwell and Martin Gramatica each kicked 53-yard field goals. Fuad Reveiz (1991) is the only Vikings kicker to have two in the same game.

  • Longwell set a team record for longest field goal made in the New Orleans series with his 53-yarder.

  • Reggie Bush became only the 12th player in NFL history to return two punts for touchdowns in the same game. It was only the fourth time in league history that a player's team lost the game when he scored twice.
