Record-seekers vs. Jaguars
GAME NOTES vs. JAGUARS
The two touchdowns the Vikings scored with 1:41 elapsed was the quickest two touchdowns at the start of a game in team history. The record up until then was two touchdowns three minutes, 29 seconds into a game against Green Bay on Sept. 28, 1986 with two touchdown passes.
The 27-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Napoleon Harris 13 seconds into the game tied a team record for the quickest score at the start of a game, and it was the quickest defensive touchdown in team history. The only other time the Vikings scored 13 seconds into the game was on Sept. 25, 2005, when Daunte Culpepper found Travis Taylor for a touchdown pass against New Orleans. Kevin Williams had held the defensive record with an interception return against San Francisco on Dec. 9, 2007 only 14 seconds into that game.
LB Napoleon Harris recovered his first career NFL fumble and scored his first NFL touchdown.
Kevin Williams' 1.5 sacks give him a career total of 42.5, which moves into 10th place all-time in team history, surpassing Lance Johnstone's 41.
Ryan Longwell set a team record with his fourth kick of 50 or more yards in a season. Paul Edinger, Fuad Reveiz and Jan Stenerud were all tied with Longwell at three kicks of 50-plus yards before Sunday's 54-yarder for Longwell.
WR Bernard Berrian elicited a pass interference call on Jaguars CB Rashean Mathis, giving the Vikings six first downs on pass interference or illegal contact this year. Berrian moves into third place in team history for most yards gained in a season on penalties via pass interference or illegal contact. Randy Moss has the franchise record of 225 yards from his rookie season in 1998. Jake Reed is second with 128 yards in 1995.
Adrian Peterson's 80 yards rushing set a team record for most yards after the first 11 games of a season. Robert Smith held the previous mark with 1,128 in 2000, and Peterson was previously second with 1,081 yards last year at this point in the season.
Peterson's 80 yards rushing is second most in the short series vs. Jacksonville. Robert Smith has the record with 101 yards against the Jaguars in 1998.
Longwell set a team record for the longest field goal made in the series vs. Jacksonville. Gary Anderson had the previous best with a 53-yarder in the 1998 game.
CB Antoine Winfield set a team record for most tackles in the series vs. Jacksonville. Winfield had 12, besting Kailee Wong's mark of 10 from a Dec. 23, 2001 game against the Jaguars.
WR Darius Reynaud played in his first NFL game and returned two kickoffs for 36 yards.
