Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has been nominated for the GMC Sierra Defensive Player of the Week on NFL.com, an award that is voted on by the fans until 3 p.m. Thursday on NFL.com.
Allen had eight tackles and three sacks in the Vikings' 34-14 win over the Bears on Sunday night.
Also nominated were New York Giants DE Justin Tuck, Steelers LB James Harrison, Colts DE Robert Mathis and Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware.
Tuck had six tackles and two sacks in the Giants' 23-7 win over Washington. Harrison had nine tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles, both recovered by the Steelers, in a 33-10 win over the Patriots. Mathis had two sacks and a 37-yard fumble return for the only touchdown in a 10-6 win over the Browns. Ware had four tackles and three sacks in a 34-9 win over the Seahawks.

In addition to Allen, Vikings coach Brad Childress is one of three nominees for the Motorola Coach of the Week on NFL.com. He is joined by Mike Shanahan of the Denver Broncos and Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers (the Vikings' defensive coordinator in 2006).
