Giants sit a few starters

The Giants will be sitting starting RB Brandon Jacobs and starting TE Kevin Boss Sunday in the Metrodome. The Vikings will have WR Bernard Berrian, who has been battling an ankle injury all week.

Giants running back Brandon Jacobs is among the players Tom Coughlin will be resting Sunday in the Metrodome.

Jacobs leads the team with 1,089 yards on 219 carries and has 15 touchdowns, but Derrick Ward, who needs just 52 yards to reach 1,000 yards rushing himself, will start in Jacobs' place. Jacobs was listed as questionable with a knee injury this week.

The Giants are also sitting starting tight end Kevin Boss, who was listed as doubtful with ankle and concussion problems this week, and DT Barry Cofield, who was dealing with a knee injury. Jay Alford will start for Cofield, and Michael Matthews will start for Boss.

New York had already listed starting CB Aaron Ross and LB Gerris Wilkinson as out on Friday. Kevin Dockery will start in place of Ross.

Other inactives for the Giants include K Lawrence Tynes, DT Leger Douzable and WR Derek Hagan.

For the Vikings, Bernard Berrian, who had been limited this week, will play despite suffering an ankle injury last week.

The Vikings will sit QB John David Booty (third QB), TE Garrett Mills, LB David Herron, T Marcus Johnson, DE Otis Grigsby, WR Darius Reynaud, DT Pat Williams and DT Letroy Guion.
