Peterson loves Favre's passion

Adrian Peterson is the latest Viking to weigh in on the Brett Favre purple possibilities. While Peterson says he's a fan of Favre, he also says he's confident in Tarvaris Jackson and hasn't seen enough of Sage Rosenfels to have a strong opinion on him.

Adrian Peterson weighed in on the Brett Favre discussion in an interview with ESPN News. Peterson, who was attending a Nike-sponsored event at Cal-Irvine, said he would be excited to have Favre as a teammate.

"I know it's a possibility," Peterson said of the potential Favre signing. "A guy that is well respected, been around the league a long time. I'm a big fan of him. I grew up watching him and just loving the passion he played with. That would be something he would definitely bring to the locker room."

Peterson said that Favre's leadership would be the key to signing with the Vikings. While most players and front office types have shied away from directly responding to such questions, Peterson explained why he thinks a veteran like Favre could put the Vikings over the hump in terms of getting the team to its ultimate goal of a Super Bowl appearance.

"We've got Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels," Peterson said. "The only thing I would say is that those guys – especially Tarvaris – is young in his career. I'm not making any type of excuses for him. But he's got all the time in the world. If Brett Favre was to come in, it would be something that could fine-tune (Jackson). You can definitely learn a lot from a quarterback that it going to be in the Hall of Fame. (He's) definitely a teacher, a leader."

Peterson also said that, if Favre doesn't come to the Vikings, the team is still confident in moving forward with what they already have.

"I'm so confident in Tarvaris," Peterson said. "I really haven't seen too much of Sage, but Tarvaris has got all the talent. He's got everything – he's got a good arm and is talented. He's got everything it takes to make it in this league. I know he's been doing a lot this offseason to get his body right and his mind right. Most importantly, (he will) be able to come out and get the starting job."

One of the persistent rumors says Favre would like to come to the Vikings to be teammates with Peterson, which would take a lot of the pressure of running the offense off of the veteran QB. If Thursday was any indication, it sounds like the admiration is mutual.
