NFL important dates: 2009-2010

You know training camp is just around the corner, but here are the other important NFL dates to keep on the calendar.

Late July: Training camps open (the Vikings report on July 29 with the first practice July 31).

Aug. 9: Pro Football Hall of Fame game, Canton, Ohio (Buffalo Bills vs. Tennessee Titans).

Aug. 13-17: First preseason weekend.

Sept. 1: Roster cutdown to maximum of 75 players.

Sept. 5: Roster cutdown to maximum of 53 players.

Sept. 10-14: Kickoff 2009 weekend.

Oct. 12-13: NFL Fall meeting, Boston, Mass.

Oct. 20: Trading deadline (3 p.m. Central).

Oct. 25: International series, London, England (New England Patriots vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers).


Jan. 3: Regular season ends.

Jan. 9-10: Wild Card playoffs.

Jan. 16-17: Divisional playoffs.

Jan. 24: Conference championships.

Jan. 31: AFC-NFC Pro Bowl, South Florida (ESPN).

Feb. 7: Super Bowl XLIV, South Florida (CBS).

Feb. 24-March 2: NFL Scouting Combine, Indianapolis, Ind.

March 5: Free agency begins.

March 21-24: NFL Annual Meeting, Orlando, Fla.

Early May: NFL Draft, New York City.

May 24-26: NFL Spring meeting, Dallas, Tex.
