Winfield, Herrera out for Vikings

The Vikings will be missing a starter on offense and on defense, as injuries start to take a little bit more of a toll on the team.

The Vikings have avoided an injury serious enough to put a player on injured reserve, but CB Antoine Winfield is missing his fifth straight game with a foot injury. Winfield seemed convinced during the week that he would play, but he has been made inactive for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. Benny Sapp will start in his place.

"It feels 100 times better. No issues. I took 100 percent of the reps with the first team today so I'm looking forward to getting out there on Sunday," Winfield said on Wednesday.

Starting right guard Anthony Herrera is also inactive after suffering a concussion last Sunday. Artis Hicks will start in his place.

The good news for the Vikings on the injury report is that RB Adrian Peterson (illness/ankle) will start and WR Percy Harvin (illness) will also play. Peterson's ankle limited him in Wednesday and Thursday's practice, but he missed all of Friday's practice with illness. Harvin was added to the injury report on Saturday with illness.

Also inactive for the Vikings are Sage Rosenfels (third QB), RB Albert Young, LB Erin Henderson, DE Jayme Mitchell and DT Letroy Guion.

For the Bears, WR Juaquin Iglesias, S Craig Steltz, CB D.J. Moore, LB Pisa Tinoisamoa, G Lance Louis, DT Matt Toeaina, TE Desmond Clark and DT Jarron Gilbert are inactive. Clark is the most noteworthy of those.

The Bears also made a change to their starting lineup. Frank Omiyale will start in place of Josh Beekman at left guard.
