Record-seekers vs. Cardinals
GAME NOTES vs. CARDINALS
Visanthe Shiancoe set a team record for most receiving touchdowns by a tight end in a season. He has nine, surpassing Joe Senser's eight from 1981.
Shiancoe's touchdown moved him into a second-place tie for career receiving touchdowns by a Vikings tight end. He and Stu Voigt both have 17. Steve Jordan holds the franchise mark with 28 from 1982-94.
Percy Harvin moves into third place for most rushing yards in a season by a wide receiver with 113. He trails Bob Grim (127 yards in 1971) and Anthony Carter (117 yards in 1991).
Harvin also moves into third place for most receiving touchdowns by a rookie in a season with six. Randy Moss had 17 in 1998 and Sammy White had 10 in 1976.
Brett Favre played in his 283rd consecutive game, moving into sole possession of the most consecutive games played by a position player in NFL history. Favre breaks the 30-year-old record held by former Vikings defensive end Jim Marshall at 282.
Favre reached 3,000 yards passing in a season for the 18th time in his career and the 18th consecutive season, both NFL records. Dan Marino is second with 13 seasons with 3,000 yards.
Favre moves into fifth place for most touchdown passes thrown in a season for the Vikings. He has 26, tying him with Tommy Kramer's 1981 mark. Daunte Culpepper holds the record with 39 in 2004.
Favre's two touchdown passes move him into second place for most in the first 12 games of any season. Culpepper also holds that record with 30 through 12 games in 2004.
Favre is the second-quickest Vikings quarterback to reach 25 touchdowns in a season, doing that in 12 games. Culpepper needed only nine games to reach that milestone in 2004.
Favre's streak without an interception thrown (20 attempts min.) ends at 159 consecutive pass attempts, third-best in team history. Warren Moon went 193 passes without an interception in 1995 and Randall Cunningham had a streak of 162 without a pick from Dec. 21, 1997 until Oct. 25, 1998.
Sidney Rice becomes the 10th player in team history to reach 1,000 yards receiving in a season. The team record is Cris Carter with eight consecutive seasons.
Harvin's 163 combined yards give him a season total of 1,780, second-most in team history by a rookie. Adrian Peterson had 2,021 combined yards in 2007.
Adrian Peterson set a team record for most rushing attempts in two consecutive seasons. He has 606 between this season and last, breaking his mark of 601 from 2007-08.
Bryant McKinnie moves into fifth place among tackles for most games played, surpassing Todd Steussie's 111. McKinnie has 112. Ron Yary holds the record for the position at 199 games from 1968-81.
