Report: CB among predraft visitors

CB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah will be among the draft prospects visiting the Vikings, according to the National Football Post, citing a source close to the program. The team is expected to host close to 30 prospects next Tuesday and Wednesday, many of which have been reported here

Owusu-Ansah checked in at the NFL Scouting Combine at just over 6 feet tall and 207 pounds and was clocked as low as 4.32 in the 40-yard dash, although the electronic times had him closer to 4.5 seconds.

The Indiana (Penn.) prospect didn't lift at the NFL Scouting Combine because of a dislocated shoulder and could miss some early offseason workouts because of the injury. In a draft chat Thursday night with Vikings fans, Scout.com draft analyst Chris Steuber mentioned Owusu-Ansah as a second-round possibility for the Vikings if they don't draft a cornerback in the first round.

Mark Wilf to address Twin Cities business people

When the Vikings personnel department is on the second day of predraft visits with NFL prospects, Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf will address a group of business people as part of an "Executive Briefing" series, according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.

Wilf will "share his perspective on what the team's business strategy is and the role the Vikings play in our community," according to an article promoting the event, which runs from 7:30-9:30 a.m. next Wednesday at Hotel Ivy. Tickets cost $40.

It wouldn't be surprising if the hot topic of a new stadium is broached, whether it's in Wilf's address or a Q&A session following his speech.

Report: Central Florida DT scheduled to visit

According to Gil Brandt of NFL.com Central Florida's best prospect, DT Torell Troup, has a visit scheduled with the Vikings.

Troup has excellent size (6-2 3/4, 314), mass and strength to develop into a quality run-stuffer inside.  He did 34 reps at 225 pounds at the Combine and has outstanding anchor strength and powerful hands.  Other combine numbers include a 1.75 10-yard, 2.84 20-yard, 5.12 40-yard time, 29-inch vertical jump, 8'-2" broad jump, 4.73 short shuttle and 7.61 three-cone drill.

A developmental prospect to groom behind Pat Williams, Troup has the look of a third- to fourth-round pick.

Viking scouts have some connections to prospects at UCF.  Head coach George O'Leary was on Mike Tice's staff in Minnesota in 2002-03.  The Golden Knights defensive line coach is Jim Panagos, who also served as an assistant coach with the Vikings from 2002-05.  Panagos has been Troup's position coach the past three seasons.

The scheduled visit indicates an existing level of interest that is being taken to the next level with the opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with the young prospect in person.
