New old news on Favre

We really didn't want you to go multiple days without a Brett Favre item, so Sports Illustrated's Peter King has an update … well, kind of. It would be an update if it were Jan. 30 or even Feb. 3, not May 3.

King reports that Favre told an "NFL player who knows the quarterback well" that the quarterback is "100 percent positive I'll never put on pads again in my life."

Since there were no cameras present to record that statement, we'll put even less credence in that statement than Favre's retirement press conference – in 2007.

Favre likes to play football, he performs well in the spotlight and he changes his mind a lot. All of those factors, and many others, have us still believing that when September rolls around there is a 51.9 percent chance that Favre will have pads on and they will be covered by a purple jersey.

Perrilloux not among two signings after rookie camp

It appears the Vikings have decided against signing QB Ryan Perrilloux, who was with the team for a tryout during their rookie minicamp over the weekend.

In all, the Vikings had 36 players on a tryout basis and two were signed, according to the team's web site. Perrilloux was not among them.

The Vikings signed former Iowa State WR Marquis Hamilton and former Southwest Minnesota State OT Bill Noethlich.

"Marquis is a big wide receiver with good size who showed a good ability catching the ball. His performance over the weekend warranted a further look as we continue this spring," Vikings vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman told vikings.com.

"Bill had a good tryout through the weekend and stuck out as one of the better linemen in the group. He gave a good accounting of himself and has some physical traits and skills that are promising. He's got the arm reach and frame to make him a good prospect."

Vikings stadium legislation coming Monday

The Vikings stadium legislation will be introduced by a bipartisan group of lawmakers at a 9 a.m. Monday morning press conference at the State Capitol.

Sen. Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook), State Rep. Loren Solberg (DFL-Grand Rapids), State Sen. Julie Rosen (R-Fairmont), State Rep. Morrie Lanning (R-Moorhead) and other lawmakers will be on hand.

There are other hurdles for the Vikings to get over for a new stadium, but this is the first step.
