Jackson wasn't happy with Favre signing

Tarvaris Jackson doesn't have to be happy about losing his job to Brett Favre, but he's going to continue to be cooperative. That was the essence of what Jackson said when the Vikings wrapped up minicamp last Sunday.

Hindsight says that Jackson would have been the starter last year if Favre hadn't reversed course and signed with the Vikings after the Mankato portion of training camp had ended. When Jackson struggled with an injury in the preseason and Sage Rosenfels didn't impress at training camp, the Vikings made another attempt to lure Favre to Minnesota.

Had that attempt failed, Jackson likely would have continued as the starter, despite competition from Rosenfels. As it turned out, Jackson was the backup all season long and Rosenfels was inactive for every game.

The fact that Favre signed obviously knocked both Jackson and Rosenfels down a peg.

"Last year it kind of hurt and it was kind of hard but we won a lot of games last year and we went far," Jackson said. "We're just trying to get back there and whatever happens, it's pretty much the same. I'm not going to be happy, but at the same time I have to welcome it and I'm just going to be ready to play. If not, I'm going to be on Brett's side."
