All Day all week

Adrian Peterson's nickname is "All Day" for his non-stop effort, but Scout.com's Oklahoma site is talking about All Day all week long.

Today's entry was a look back at one of Peterson's more memorable games with the Sooners, the Bedlam game pitting Oklahoma against Oklahoma State in 2005. Sooners Illustrated looked back at an 84-yard touchdown run that sealed the game for Oklahoma.

"Peterson busted through the line and escaped several would-be tacklers for an 84-yard touchdown run, good for a career-long," Joey Helmer wrote in this entry. "That made the score 28-7 at the time, and the Sooners went on to win their third straight Bedlam game, in large part because of Peterson's brilliant second-half performance of 210 yards and two touchdowns. That 84-yarder was complemented by a 71-yard scamper later in the half, all part of a 237-yard day."

The brief look back also has a link to the 2005 game story with, of course, Peterson leading the way.

Vikings getting closer to roster limit, waive QB

The Vikings have their roster down to 81 players after waiving QB R.J. Archer on Tuesday, according to the team's web site, another sign that Brett Favre is expected to return and Joe Webb is expected to remain at quarterback at the start of training camp.

Archer was signed as an undrafted rookie, but when the Vikings moved Webb from receiver to quarterback and he impressed at that position, Archer became more expendable. The Vikings have four QBs on the roster, including Brett Favre, Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels.

In order to sign all of their draft picks, the Vikings will have to release one more player.

Brees blows Favre's horn

When the Vikings travel to New Orleans for a Sept. 9 rematch of the NFC Championship Game, Saints quarterback Drew Brees fully expects that Brett Favre will be the quarterback of the Vikings.

"I don't think there's any doubt that Brett Favre is coming back, and he's going to be as good as he's ever been," Brees told Nancy Gay of FanHouse. "We're going to need our best game to beat him, I know that. They're a good team. A very good team."

Brees has also noticed the trash-tweeting back and forth between the Vikings and Saints this offseason, especially between Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe and Saints safety Darren Sharper. Both have been told to back off the talk by their teams, but Brees realizes the nationally televised NFL season opener on that Thursday night will be a big draw.

"There has been some chatter back and forth between our team and their team, and I just kind of hear about it. I don't really do much of it," Brees says of the Vikings this offseason. "Listen, we know that's going to be a big game."

The rest of the article provides good insight into the Saints' approach to the Super Bowl after beating the Vikings in the conference championship game and Sean Payton's motivational tactics leading up to the nation's most-watched championship.
