Mississippi trip pays off for Vikings foursome

The four Minnesota Vikings fans – Todd Glocke, Darin Troftgruben, Diggz Garza and Herman Abrams – that traveled to Mississippi to say thanks to Brett Favre were rewarded with a conversation with the NFL legend that lasted approximately 15 minutes Friday morning.

"He was telling old baseball stories, telling jokes ... It was an unbelievable moment to shake hands with him," Garza told the Hattiesburg American. "We were just kind of taking it all in. I can't hardly speak right now."

The four traveled to Mississippi this week and arrived at Oak Grove High School shortly before Favre did for a workout with the high school kids.

Peterson addresses contract, Favre

Adrian Peterson was seen in the crowd at the ESPYs, but an NFL Network interview with him on the red carpet is the first he was heard from since's Michael Lombardi posted an item saying he expects Peterson will be the next player to complain about his contract.

Asked if he can put the rumors of his dissatisfaction with his contract to rest, Peterson simply stated, "You can put them to rest."

He wasn't asked to expand on his feelings over his contract or his brief answer. At the very least, he doesn't appear ready to make a public appeal for a new contract.

Peterson also briefly addressed the season opener and the possibilities of Brett Favre coming back.

Peterson said he ran into Drew Brees at the hotel and told him, "Get ready for this defeat we're about to hand you guys."

But Peterson admitted a win in the season opener wouldn't be as sweet as beating the Saints in the NFC Championship and advancing to the Super Bowl. However, he said the Vikings were to blame for that loss, not cruel fate. Peterson had two fumbles and could have been charged with a third that was recovered by New Orleans after a botched exchange with Favre on a handoff attempt.

"We really hurt ourselves, and in big games like that we can't do those things," he said.

Peterson said he believes Favre is coming back, but he hasn't been told that at this point.

"I'm hoping he comes back," he said. "He hasn't told me yet. I understand how it is in the offseason – a lot of people coming at him, so I just like to let him relax and enjoy his time with his family."

Season tailgate/parking passes being sold

The Vikings have started selling season parking tickets for three tailgating lots near Mall of America Field at the Metrodome. It's the fourth year the team has had tailgating lots available near the Metrodome.

Tickets range between $303 and $903 for the eight regular-season games and guarantee a parking spot in the designated lot.

Day-of-game tailgating passes are also sold, but those have sold out in the past, according to the team.
