Favre not the richest … yet

If Brett Favre comes back to the Vikings with a new contract – the Vikings upped their offer to $20 million with incentives if he returns – he would be the highest paid Minnesota athlete, according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.

Favre is currently scheduled to make $13 million for a base salary this year, which wouldn't quite make it to the top of the list. According to the article, that distinction currently belongs to Twins first baseman Justin Morneau, who's making $15 million this year. Close behind Favre is Twins catcher Joe Mauer at $12.5 million, pitcher Joe Nathan at $11.25 million and then Vikings defensive end Jared Allen at $10.4 million.

If Favre accepts the new offer, he'd rocket to the top and nearly double what Allen is making.

Here is the full article on the Minnesota salaries.

Brett's bike goes unused

Before training camp opened, the Vikings announced a partnership with Bokoo favrebrett_bike_0810 Bikes Corporation, which produced 110 custom GIANT bicycles for players, coaches and staff to ride throughout training camp. Players used the bikes to get around the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus. For the first time, BBC provided Vikings-branded bikes for the team.

One of them went unused, at least by its intended rider. Brett Favre never showed up to camp. Of the 110 bikes, 50 of them, including 20 autographed ones, were being sold at Bokoo Bikes, with a portion of the proceeds going back to the Vikings Children's Fund.

More bad signs with Harvin

The Vikings have been short on information when it comes to a timetable for Percy Harvin's return, saying consistently throughout the nearly two weeks he has missed that they don't have an update on his status.

Now, according to the Star Tribune, Harvin has been placed on the "exempt/left squad" list. The move gives the Vikings a roster exemption for Harvin, much like the one they received when they placed Brett Favre on the "did not report" list. That allowed the team to carry 81 players on the training camp roster.

With Harvin away dealing with another round of migraine headaches and Sidney Rice still on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP), it's possible the Vikings could look to sign another receiver. On Tuesday, they signed first-year receiver Freddie Brown because they were starting to wear out to the other receivers' legs.

At the very least, the transaction with Harvin would seem to be a sign that he isn't ready to return in the coming days.
