Roster cuts are starting

NFL teams are required to trim their rosters from 80 players to 75 by the end of business on Tuesday, but some teams have elected to start the process early after their third preseason game.

Receivers Antonio Bryant (Bengals) and Laveranues Coles (Jets) are two of the bigger cash cows that were put out pasture on Sunday morning. Former Vikings receiver Aundrae Allison was also released from the Jets.

The Vikings haven't announced any of their cuts yet and they could elect to wait until they have two more practices in the books for evaluation purposes (and to make sure that they don't get caught thin at a position because of injuries). The players are off today and resume work with full practices on Monday and Tuesday in preparation for their final preseason game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.

Two days later, the intense roster decisions will need to be made, going from 75 players to 53 on Saturday. The regular season is just around the corner.

Halftime: Vikings 10, Seahawks 10

Brett Favre made his Dome debut with an uneven start but a quick welcome back to Percy Harvin, who started the game with a 34-yard reception. Two plays later, the Vikings offense was off the field after Favre took a sack.

Their next drive went 15 plays, but came up empty when Adrian Peterson couldn't get into the end zone from 2 yards out on fourth down.

The next Vikings drive put points on the board, but for Seattle. Favre zipped a pass for Bernard Berrian that was deflected into the waiting arms of safety Earl Thomas, who returned the interception 86 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 Seahawks lead.

The Vikings answered quickly following a 73-yard kick return by Darius Reynaud. On their second play from scrimmage of the drive, Peterson broke a 24-yard touchdown run and the game was tied 7-7.

Seattle answered with a 38-yard field goal on its next drive and Minnesota followed suit with a 28-yard Ryan Longwell field goal for the 10-10 halftime score.

Favre finished the half completing 14 of 21 passes for 174 yards, no TDs and one INT. Peterson had 11 carries for 37 yards.
