Mount Union cornerback Chris Kern measured in at 5-10/196, then ran a pair of forty's in 4.41 and 4.37 during his workouts. His vertical was 36.5 inches, broad jump 10-8, with a short shuttle of 3.96 seconds. He completed 15 repetitions on the bench.
St Cloud State's Matt Huebner, a small-school sleeper at tight end, had his pro dates moved to March 18 and the 26. A top pass-catching threat, he recently ran a 4.64 and did 25 reps on the bench.
Another small-school prospect getting mention is Tonga Mounga of Southern Utah, who worked out at the BYU pro day two weeks ago. Measuring in at 6-2.5/289, he ran a pair of 40's at 4.95 and 4.9, then turned in a vertical jump of 29.5 inches.
Cougar receiver Reno Mahe improved his time from the combine, turning in a 4.65 and 4.57 while Gabe Reid ran three times posting 4.74, 4.75, 4.74 at 252 pounds.
Interestingly, offensive tackle Ben Archibald was on hand and measured in at 6-4/319.
Archibald, a solid prospect coming into the season, suffered a severely broken leg in August, which required surgery to repair, leading many to think the 26-year old's career was over.
Another injured offensive tackle who worked out for scouts and did so with a large degree of success was Clemson's Derrick Brantley. Highly ranked coming into the season, Brantley tore knee ligaments early in the campaign, which ended his year. Approximately 15 scouts worked him out last week during the Tiger's pro day and the results were good.
