Vladimir Tarasenko named NHL's third star for week

St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko was honored by the NHL on Monday.

The NHL announced on Monday that St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko had been named the Third Star for the week ending Oct. 18.

Tarasenko recorded six points (three goals, three assists) and a plus-6 rating in four games for the Blues last week.

The Russian forward has recorded a point in every game this season and is currently tied for the NHL league in goals (five) and points (nine) and is tied for sixth in plus-minus (plus-6).

“He’s dangerous in the offensive zone,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock told reporters following Tarasenko’s two-goal performance against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. “Playing against him, I’d be really nervous. He doesn’t miss. If you give him a chance from the top of the circle he’s not going to miss.”

Since the beginning of the 2014-15 season, Tarasenko has scored 42 goals and racked up 82 points in 83 regular season games. If you include the playoffs, he has 48 goals and 90 points in 89 total games.

The Blues (5-1-0, 10 points) have won four straight games and conclude their season-long six-game road trip on Tuesday night against the undefeated Montreal Canadiens (6-0-0, 12 points).
