Derek Stepan Signs 6-Year, $39 Million Deal with Rangers

One of the standout performers of the 2015 playoffs will remain a Ranger.

Derek Stepan and the New York Rangers avoided heading to arbitration by mere hours, as the standout center has inked a six-year contract with $39 million to remain in Rangerstown.

The 25-year-old Stepan netted five goals with seven assists during the Rangers' run to the Eastern Conference finals, where they fell to the Tamba Bay Lightning in seven games.

Stepan has been one of the steadiest Rangers during the last two seasons, turning in two consecutive 50-point seasons while under a "bridge contract" of the same duration.
