One of the best turkey hunting tips I've ever gotten, is also one of the hardest for me to follow. It's a tip that my grandfather always told me and that's to simply be patient. We are in the times these days where everybody wants to run and gun and make that turkey gobble 100 times while strutting around the decoys. That makes for great tv but sometimes you have to just sit back and wait on the turkey to do his thing on his time schedule. I was fortunate enough to be able to go turkey hunting with my grandfather a few times and learned a lot from those trips. I'm still working on that being patient thing though. He would always go out and make about three yelps on an old box call and if the gobbler answered he would make a couple more yelps and then put the call down and wait on him. Being patient helped him shoot a ton of turkeys in his hunting career. So one of the best tips I could give is to just be patient and wait that old gobbler out.
