When we talk about swimbaits and paddletails its normally a conversation about big baits. But when the going gets tough you have to adapt to the conditions. Dropping down to a small swimbait with or without an underspin blade is a great way to get bit in even the toughest conditions!
With the storm blowing out and the post frontal conditions setting in we dropped all the way down to 8 lb test on spining rods with little 1/8 oz swimbait heads and 2-3" swimbaits. We may not have caught any giants but we had a blast on a difficult day!
These same methods are a pond fishing secret and work equally well when creek fishing or bank fishing in pressured waters. Its amazing what will eat a little swimbait when they won't eat anything else!
