First Fish Of The Year

I always keep track of the first fish I catch each season. Unfortunately, I live in the Great White North so my season doesn't actually open until late May. This makes me value that first bite even more. But, I know many of us are in a similar boat, pardon the pun.

Last year my first keeper bass came during a tournament weighing just at 3 pounds and came on a whacky-rigged senko in a bluegill pattern. I don't recall the specifics as to why I chose that bait on that day, but it worked and we managed to put together a fine limit.

It was a great start to the season and I can't wait for that first hookset of 2014… I'm counting down! Keep track of these things, you never know when you may be confronted with similar conditions and need to revert back to a previous experience.
