As fisherman and boaters, we want to get to the lake and enjoy the fishing, then back home to put the boat away as quickly as possible. To do this though, you need to make sure you take the proper steps to ensure a safe and uneventful trip to and from the lake with your boat in tow.
The first thing I suggest is making sure your tow vehicle is in good working order and able to pull the boat without issue. This means getting it serviced as scheduled and having your auto technician make sure the vehicle’s trailering mount and wire harness is in good working order.
Before I pull the boat from the garage, I always do a quick walk-around inspection. Here I’m making sure no items are in the boat that will fly out and cause a disturbance on the highway. I’m also sure the tires have air in them; the extension cord to my battery charge is unhooked. Overall, I’m just making sure my rig is safe.
