Each year I do my best to get my hands on a new product that I believe will—in some manner or another—enhance my on-the-water productivity. During the fall of 2014, the Minn Kota Terrova with iPilot Link changed how I fish for muskies, and I expect it to play under many spring and summer scenarios this summer.
Of course, my favorite feature is the remote driven trolling motor, but it gets even deeper. If I want to return to a waypoint, lock onto a waypoint with SpotLock, or even follow a contour based on the lake contour map—among other things—I can accomplish all of that when my Humminbird and Terrova get married up for some serious fishing.
This system has changed how I fish and has dramatically improved my consistency while on the water.
Technology is advancing quickly and fishing-savvy developers are putting that to good use for fishermen all around the world. Being open to these changes has added a new level of effectiveness for me while I’m on the water. I say this because it can seem like a challenge to keep up with the advancements, but it’s not really anything to be intimidated by.
Total control from the back of the boat!
If you can find a way to implement tools like the Minn Kota Terrova and iPilot Link, I can assure you that you will catch more fish. Not only that, it’s a lot of fun to view and fish structures better than anyone else! Just another way to up your game.
Another fantastic application for this system is how it helps my family enjoy time on the water together. Not having to mess with the trolling motor pedal, or keeping to a specific contour, I am now able to take my eyes off the next dock to help my two young children re-rig or make the right cast and not worry about getting my boat off track. I think you’ll find that reducing distraction just makes the overall experience better for everyone in your boat.
