NAF Members Are Now Tournament Eligible!

An exciting new partnership that joins North American Fisherman with American Bass Anglers means NAF members across the country can now compete in ABA fishing tournaments.

American Bass Anglers, North American Fisherman and Scout.com recently reached an agreement that will allow hundreds of thousands of NAF members access to ABA’s 800-plus local, grassroots bass tournaments.

Built around the needs and preferences of weekend bass fishermen, ABA is the largest fishing organization of its kind, offering anglers the chance to compete locally in one or more of four distinct tournament trails.

  • The RAM American Fishing Tour is a boater/non-boater trail that covers 30-plus states, with multiple divisions in most states and 6 to 10 tournaments within each division. Formally called “Military Bass Anglers,” this tour has many anglers that are former or active duty military. These days the atmosphere is club-like, where boaters and non-boaters are paired before each launch.
  • Aimed at anglers who are looking for a slightly higher level of competition, ABA’s RAM Weekend Bass Series is a boater/co-angler format trail, with four 5-event divisions across 13 states.
  • The American Couples Series is open to ABA member couples, with 60-plus tournaments across 10 states.
  • Newest among the ABA series is the RAM 100% Plus Team Tour with two divisions, North Alabama and Tennessee/Kentucky, with five events in each division. This true team-format trail boasts 100% plus payout at each event, with a new boat for first place at all events.

”We are proud to join forces with the ABA,” says North American Fisherman Editor Kurt Beckstrom. “This is a fantastic opportunity for NAF bass fishermen to scratch that competitive itch on local waters, as well as for weekend anglers who want to experience tournament-style fishing in a cozy and friendly environment with very affordable entrance fees. And while it’s a grassroots series, it provides fishermen the chance to compete at the divisional and national levels, too.”

NAF members who fish an ABA series receive other benefits as well, including electronic issues of ABA Magazine, window decal, membership card, free entry into special drawings for sponsor products and entry fees, as well as special membership benefits from ABA sponsors

“We are excited to provide the opportunity for North American Fisherman members to compete in our grassroots bass tournaments all over the country”, says David Hagood, Vice President, American Bass Anglers, Inc. “Each of the bass fishing tours provides a great environment for the weekend angler to learn competitive bass fishing and win some exciting prizes along the way. And at the same time, they offer a path to the Ray Scott Championship—the most prestigious bass fishing competition for the weekend angler.

“You don’t own a boat? No problem. ABA provides bass tournaments with opportunities for both boat owners and non-boaters. We invite all NAF members to sign up for tournament eligibility today, and look forward to seeing them get started on the path to exciting bass tournament action.”
