2015 Minnesota Fishing Challenge

Fishing, competition and fellowship proves to be an essential part to overcoming addiction.

This May 30th, 2015, teams from across the country will compete in a fishing tournament with some pretty high stakes on Minnesota’s famed Gull Lake.

And while there will be some big names and pros in attendance—as well as avid anglers like you and me—it isn’t about personal glory or a substantial purse.

It’s about raising money for an incredibly worthy cause.

The cause? Raising money for an organization called MN Teen Challenge, which has been restoring hope to youth and adults struggling with addiction through its Christian-faith based recovery program for nearly 30 years.

In fact, funds raised in the Minnesota Fishing Challenge go to help cover the expenses of those who cannot afford the cost of treatment.

If you ask me, that’s pretty cool, especially since research studies indicate a very high success rate at individuals staying sober in post-program life.

That said, if you’re looking for a fun and worthwhile tournament to fish this year, consider the 2015 Minnesota Fishing Challenge on May 30th on beautiful Gull Lake, near Brainerd, Minnesota! Not only will you get to fish some awesome water, meet fishing legends, and raise money for a great cause, you’ll also get to meet some of the individuals in the program.

Personally, I had a blast the couple years I fished the tournament—and look forward to fishing it again this year!

And, even if you can’t make the event, you can still help. Here are some ways you can donate or get involved.

Lastly, if YOU know someone who is struggling with drugs and alcohol and reaching out for help, consider MN Adult & Teen Challenge as an option to share with your friend or family member.

Currently, the organization operates recovery centers in the Twin Cities, Duluth, Brainerd, and Rochester, Minnesota, all of which have helped visiting clients from around the world recover from the bondage of drug and alcohol addiction.
