Unless you’re a diehard walleye or panfish angler who buys leeches by the pound at the local baitshop, this underwater video is guaranteed to creep you out. It was shot in an agricultural drainage in Wisconsin by Dr. Solomon David, who described the phenomenon as a “Leech-nado.”
Our hasty research of animal collective names shows that leeches are underrepresented. The list jumps straight from “larks” (an Exaltation) to leopards (a Leap). Because we like all things to have a name, we’re calling this collective a Legion of leeches.
