Trolling For Troops

Pro anglers and guides come together to provide a day of fishing for current and retired military veterans out of Camp Ripley, Minnesota.

Trolling for Troops (T4T) is hosted by the Minnesota National Guard and held at Camp Ripley, which is a short drive from famed Lake Mille Lacs and the pristine waters of the Upper Mississippi River. Tournament anglers and fishing guides provide their services and time to take out a current service members and veterans out for a day of fishing.

“It is a special moment when you can see a World War II and Vietnam Veteran sit down and chat about their experiences with a young active-duty solider,” says Col. Scott St. Sauver, Garrison Commander for Camp Ripley. “The healing power that connecting with someone like you in the relaxing atmosphere of on the water is incredible!”

The event—in its fifth year—will be held June 4-5 and features a steak feed on site at Camp Ripley Thursday evening, followed by a full day on the water Friday where anglers can pursue trophy smallmouth and walleyes on Mille Lacs, or fish the upper stretches of the Mississippi River.
