Underwater Video: Lake Trout Gone Wild

You’ve seen videos of largemouth bass and muskies attacking topwater lures, but do you ever wonder what it looks like when fish smash lures below the surface—WAY below the surface?

Check out this unique video by Caption Peter Dahl of Happy Hooker Charter Fishing in Duluth, Minnesota. Capt. Dahl attached an underwater camera to a downrigger ball and then lowered the rig into the depths of Lake Superior.

As you can see in the video below, the spoon has no hook, so hungry lake trout strike again and again. Just like a tournament bass fisherman who pre-fishes a spot with a hookless lure, or simply chooses not to set the hook after getting bit on a Texas-rig, it’s instructional to see how fish react to lures in different situations.
