The Quest for a Tyee

The term Tyee refers to a chief or boss. One pull will tell you they are aptly named.

Are you familiar with the term Tyee? Ok, aside from the popular Lund boat model.

The origin of the term tyee refers to a chief or boss. In the world of the Chinook Salmon, a Tyee weighs in at 30 pounds or more. That's a nice fish to be sure, and they can go all the way up to 70 pounds plus.

Tyler Kapela is after his first tyee up in British Columbia fishing out of the Peregrine Lodge for North American Fisherman. His guide Jorgen has put him on  several chinooks so far, but he wants to send Tyler home with the coveted Tyee pin courtesy of the lodge.
