North American Fisherman is up near the Canadian border going after the largest freshwater fish that swims: the Sturgeon.
These pre-historic shark-like monsters have a face only a mother could love. That mouth has evolved into a vacuum-like feeding machine that has worked for eons. They pull hard and grab bait with enough ferocity to make a northern pike seem tame.
The revival of the sturgeon is one of the true success stories of the fishing world. As they neared extinction efforts to preserve them paid off and now pay dividends for anglers. After surviving for millions of years, it was the least we could do to keep them swimming for millions more.
