George Liddle came to us with a technique he said we had to try. This was during the post-spawn for smallmouth, and he said all we were going to use was a simple presentation on super light tackle.
It was on Mille Lacs lake so we loaded up the Ranger and headed north with George. He hadn't exaggerated. The smallies were going off on a Mayfly bloom and given this, they blew up on our Gulp! jigs over and over. It's a matter of paying attention to what's getting the fish's attention at any given time.
We're talking suspended fish, which can be very tricky to catch, but with the right jig in the right spots, it was lights out for BIG smallmouth. This is a technique you can try TODAY as it's very likely all the pieces are sitting in your tackle box waiting to come out and play. If nothing else it's a great excuse to go wet a line and try a simple technique that might become a day you'll never forget;)
