Go Fly a Kite (and Catch Fish)

Flying kites isn't just an activity for a windy day in the park.

Fishing via a kite is a technique the North American Fisherman crew learned from Captain George Mitchell on a trip for tuna out of Venice, Louisiana.

When the bite gets tough, George explains how a kite is used to emulate a flying fish to draw the tuna up to the surface. Kites are one more tool in an offshore guide's arsenal for putting clients on fish.

Even without enough wind, he demonstrates how he was still able to entice an additional tuna into the boat using this rig. It was the icing that made a tough day that much more successful on the water.
