Stocking Walleye

Does stocking larger fry offer a better success rate?

We're learning a few things about stocking walleye. For one thing, stocking larger fry in the fall seems to show a better survival rate. These larger fingerlings fare better in the critical first winter, which is extremely tough on young fish.

But what if we could stock those larger fry in the spring to avoid that mortality rate? Dr. Hal Schramm has the results of one such study that attempted just that.
