Swords in Broad Daylight

This is the story of NAF's first epic Swordfish trip.

There was a time when it was unheard of to catch broadbills in the daytime. Capt. Richard Stanczyk and Vic Gaspeny helped change all that by developing a technique for dropping down to bring up huge broadbills during daylight hours.

Broadbills are known as Swordfish, and when they invited North American Fisherman down to Islamorada, Florida to sample this amazing bite, what could we say but OK!!!

The trek took us some 30+ miles out into the gulf stream, and led to four hookpulls by dusk. There was only one drop left, and we were bound and determined to make it count.
