Lake Superior Splake

Have you ever caught a Splake, or even seen one?

The Splake is a hybrid trout, in this case found up in the U.P. in Lake Superior. North American Fisherman sent host Eric Haataja up to show us how to catch these fish beautiful fish in the fall.

A Splake is actually a cross between a male brook trout and a female Lake Trout. They don't reproduce so this is a stocked population, but it is thriving up in the cool waters of Superior, as Eric and guest Scott Skafar demonstrate.
